The Happiest Restaurant on Earth?
On 10, Aug 2010 | No Comments | In Blog
I’ll admit it, I don’t know anything about opening a restaurant. I can’t even fathom the start-up costs required, but I have to assume that $100 for a decent font is a drop in the bucket. This brings me to a few of points:
- If you’re going to use a free font for your logo, be very very very VERY selective – there’s a ton of hastily-made garbage out there. Just google “free fonts” and watch the crap roll in.
- Buying a font greatly increases the likelihood of having a quality and less commonly used font.
- Whatever you do, don’t ripoff one of the most iconic brands in the history of the universe.

In case it wasn’t bad enough that they used the Walt Disney font, they used the capital “W” and that unmistakable “i.” I’m not sure how anyone could’ve thought that this was a good idea. While pulling into this restaurant, to the shock/annoyance/confusion of my family, I quickly dove out of the car to snap this picture. After my attempt to convey the magnitude of this typographical disaster, I was underwhelmed with a response of “Oh… yeah, I guess it is… wanna try the crab cakes?”
